Our History
We built our foundation on strong family values.
Established in 1963 by Quique Rossi as a small HVAC, general and mechanical construction company in Ponce, Puerto Rico, AIREKO was founded on strong family values. Its name comes from the Spanish word “aire”, which means air in the English language, and “ko”, a phonetic variation of “co” for the word construction.
As needs of new and repeat clients grew, so did AIREKO’s capabilities- adding new talent and service offerings including preconstruction and construction management. We have evolved from a subcontractor role serving multinational enterprises in the petrochemical sector in the 1960’s to a leading general constructor and manager of Total Construction Solutions to clients in the life sciences, education, communications, and hotel & resort industries, among others.
Today, Executive-Owners lead the enterprise, with annual revenues of over $100 million. Josen Rossi, a representative of the second generation of the original AIREKO Executive-Owners, is the Chairman and Chief Innovation Officer of AIREKO and directs the overall efforts of all business units. Paulino López presides Aireko Construction, which encompasses the longstanding general and trade construction service units.
In 2004, AIREKO consolidated its management and administration moving to it’s current location in the Bairoa Industrial Park in Caguas, PR. Technical services shops remain in Ponce and Guaynabo. Today, AIREKO employs over 600 professionals and workers, and has earned numerous recognitions over the years for consistently innovating in its core strengths of high quality, safety and client service. As a leader in total construction solutions- building solid relationships with both clients and employees, AIREKO continues to grow well into the future.
